  1. In 4 to 5 quart slow cooker, place onions.
  2. Place beef on onions.
  3. In small bowl mix diced tomatoes and tomato paste, pour over beef.
  4. Cover aand cook on Low heat setting 8 hours.
  5. Remove beef from cooker, place on cutting board.
  6. Use 2 forks to pull beef into shreds.
  7. Return beef to cooker.
  8. Spoon about 1/2 cup beef mixture onto each bun.
  9. Top with 1/4 cup cheese.
