ingredients
- 1 lb fully cooked smoked sausage
- 4 cups hot water
- 1 (15 ounce) can mixed vegetables, drained
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ham soup base
- 1 teaspoon msg (optional)
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1⁄2 cup orzo pasta
directions
- Quarter the long links of sausage then cut into about 1/4 in slices.
- Brown sausage lightly in a 4 quart pan or larger, browning enhances the flavor
- Add hot water.
- Add drained mixed vegetables.
- Add black pepper, ham soup base, MSG, and tomato sauce.
- Add Orzo.
- Cook 10 minutes over medium heat until Orzo is almost tender.
- Turn down to to a slow simmer for another 15 minutes.
- Stew will slowly thicken on it's own during the simmering process.
