Smoked Sausage Stew With Orzo

"I bought some summer sausage on a BOGO sale and it stimulated my imagination today. I made this simple stew and was shocked at how wonderful it tasted. It is quick, easy, and hearty. Would be even better with some good French or Italian Bread."

  • Quarter the long links of sausage then cut into about 1/4 in slices.
  • Brown sausage lightly in a 4 quart pan or larger, browning enhances the flavor
  • Add hot water.
  • Add drained mixed vegetables.
  • Add black pepper, ham soup base, MSG, and tomato sauce.
  • Add Orzo.
  • Cook 10 minutes over medium heat until Orzo is almost tender.
  • Turn down to to a slow simmer for another 15 minutes.
  • Stew will slowly thicken on it's own during the simmering process.
