Smooth Hummous

"This hummous is especially good for children although adults seem to love it too! I put hummous on almost everything and this one is especially yummy. Sometimes I add even more apple sauce if I want it sweet."

  1. This is a very interesting combination but definately a winner!!! My daughter who hates beans loved this. I am taking it camping for a heathly snack for all of us.

  2. Peanut butter and applesauce in hummous? You have got to be kidding! But oddly enough, it's delicious! The peanut butter is a fantastic alternative to techina, and the applesauce adds a nice sweetness to the hummous. I added some fresh cilantro simply because I like cilantro in my hummous. Just please don't tell my kids what's in here, they'll never eat it again if they knew...

  3. This is delicious and less fattening than the conventional hummous. It does make rather a lot though, so next time I might only make half the quantity.

  4. Incredibly good, Desirée. I made 1/2 a recipe successfully and loved it all by itself with the help of a fork. I'll be making this one on a regular basis. Seems I never have tahini on hand and tend to overeat it when I do, so this recipe is the perfect combination of taste and convenience. Thank you so much.

  5. I really liked this and I was a tad apprehensive I wouldn't care for the peanut butter. This is very smooth and creamy. The peanut butter is not dominant at all, just gives a nice hint of something extra. The applesauce gave it a slight sweetness..very nice! I used the hummus in a wrap rolling it with grated carrots, sliced green onion, and parsley. I also made cucumber cups to fill with the hummus. I would make both again with this keeper of a recipe! Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Cooking, food, food preparation, different ingredients and tastes are all things that I am fascinated by. I absolutely love cooking and find making a big meal incredibly relaxing. I love to prepare food for others and entertain. I am fortunate to have many friends who are willing to try all my culinary experiments. As an only child I have been blessed with the opportunity to experience many adult flavors and tastes at a young age. This has instilled in me my love for gourmet foods, which I consider one of life’s greatest luxuries. My favorite food as a child was escargot (and still reigns number one on my favorite food list today) which leads me to my conclusion that anyone can really like anything, you just have to try it. Because of this I try everything once. The world of flavor is so vast that I don’t want to miss out on anything that I may truly like, but was too "chicken" to try. (and yes, I have tried chicken feet) Although I do love fine foods I am not a “food snob” a nice squished grilled cheese made with Wonder Bread and Cheeze Whiz is on my top ten favorite foods list too. As far as food types are concerned I really do like just about everything, especially ethnic food. I am enjoying alot of Thai and Arabic food right now and also favour Greek and South American cuisine also. Yumm! I just love food!!
