S'mores Bars by Anna Olson

"I've had these a few times right from Anna's cafe. I decided to try and make them on my own....and they turned out great! My husband frequently requests them!"

directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F and grease a 9-inch square pan. Line pan with parchment paper so that paper hangs over two sides of the pan. Line bottom of pan with a single layer of whole graham crackers (about 4 ½ crackers).
  • In a saucepot, melt butter and stir in brown sugar, milk and vanilla until dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in graham cracker crumbs (this will make a soft paste). Spread half of the graham mixture over the cracker-lined pan. Sprinkle with a third of the chocolate chunks and half of the marshmallows. Top marshmallows with another layer of whole graham crackers and spread remaining graham mixture over top. Top with another third of chocolate chunks and the remaining marshmallows. Finish with a last sprinkle of chocolate chunks and bake for 12 minutes, until marshmallows have browned. Cool completely before slicing.
  • S’mores Bars can be stored in an airtight container for 3 days.

  1. Looking for a bake sale treat? Look now further. I had a group of teens making huge trays of these for many bake sales at school. I think the student body became addicted to them and so we had to keep featuring them at each bake sale. So incredibly tasty! You'll find your happy place with one of these in your hands?. I mean mouth. I would recommend reducing the amount of butter by a bit and increasing the layers by one.

  2. a friend brought these over to my house the other night and we couldn't get enough. Thank God she left us the left overs!

I've decided to update my profile as I have recently returned to work from maternity leave (which is one year in Canada! I took 14 months) and am struggling with getting dinner on the table. I want to spend as much time as I can with my son and my husband and want to be able to cook a great dinner too. I have started to look for recipes that I can make ahead and recipes that I can use my crockpot. I have also started to include my son in the cooking process but all he's really interested in is throwing everything off the counter! I am a persistant person, so I'm determined to make him a good cook someday! I live in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It's a great place to call home. Lots of seasonal veggies and of course the best wine in the world!! For those of you who don't know, the Niagara Peninsula is located at the same longitude and latitude as famous wine regions in Italy. Therefore, the wine industry is a major economic factor in my area. I love to use various wines in my recipes and of course I like to drink it too! I love to entertain and to include the "wow" factor in every meal. I think that's why I'm struggling with dinners as I don't want to make an "ordinary" meal. I have been using Zaar for a few years now. Now that I've returned to work, I'm using it a lot more. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post recipes, take pictures, and review others' recipes. <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/Adopted1smp.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket">
