  1. Blend shortening, butter, & sugars until creamy.
  2. Add eggs & vanilla. Blend well.
  3. Add flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, & cinnamon. Mix.
  4. Add in oatmeal & any desired mix-ins (raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, etc.).
  5. Fully mix all ingredients.
  6. Roll into balls on cookie sheet. Flatten with palm of hand (This is key!).
  7. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
