Sour Cream Raisin Pie

"I grew up near a famous cafe' known for their pie and I first tried sour cream raisin pie with my grandmother there. This pie has special memories for me and I think of her when ever I make this pie."

  • Heat 1 cup raisins in water on stove, drain and set aside. Stir milk, beaten egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch and salt until well blended. Heat on stove on medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla, butter and sour cream. fold in raisins. Pour into baked pie shell.
  • Directions for meringue: Beat 3 egg whites and 1/8 teaspoons of cream of tartar until frothy. Add 6 tablespoons of sugar one spoon at a time slowly. Beat until meringue forms soft peaks.
  • Top pie with meringue and bake for 5-7 minutes @ 350 degrees or until meringue is golden brown. Let pie cool and serve.

  1. The pie is very easy to make and very tasty. The instructions said to add butter but it didn't have butter in the recipe. I did a double crust also.
