  1. Oh this was a keeper! Thanks for such a simple recipie! I used wheat beer and it gave the bread a delicious flavor. I agree that the crust was terrific!

  2. I have tried all kinds of bread recipes for my ABM and this one is everyone's favourite bread! I wouldn't call it sourdough flavoured, just beer bread, but a perfect one I can even cook right in the bread maker, which I never normally do. It comes out perfect! I warm the beer in the microwave, by the way. Thanks for the fantastic recipe! It is a keeper for sure!

  3. We are another group who didn't pick up a big sourdough flavor with this one. Note the five star rating though, this was a great, tasty, flexible, light and airy loaf of bread- and we will be making it again. Thanks KimmieOh!

  4. This bread is so great! I too didn't pick up any sourdough, but the flavor of the beer comes right through, it is so delicious! We made this to cube it with our five cheese champagne fondue. What did I do with the other half we didn't use? I made Texas Toast with it the next day- absolutely perfect! Just like the Texas Toast my boyfriends grandfather makes! So thankful to have found this recipe!

  5. Sooo good. Have made it 3 times in a week and everyone who tastes it, likes it - A LOT! I use the Dough setting and make buns. Took me forever to find it again so I could comment (forgot the sourdough part) Don't know how sourdough-y it is but IS Yumm-O Thanks so much.

Tweaks

  1. I agree with those commenting that this is the best thing their bread-machine has produced. It's light and fluffy, but dense, and has an unbelievable crust. I suggest two modifications however: substitute one TB of honey for one sugar to enhance the color, and warm up the flat beer/water before adding it to enlarge your finished bread. This is one of those few bread recipes to look exactly like the picture. thanks for the recipe, cheers

  2. This is a wonderful bread. It's dense, soft, and has a good beer flavor that only gets better with age. I've made this twice - once using butter instead of oil. They were both delicious, with the butter loaf having a crisper crust, and the oil having a wonderful melt-in-your-mouth soft one.
