Southern Green Beans

"This is a delicious green bean recipe. The beans are nice and crisp, and the bacon and sugar are a nice compliment. The vinegar gives it a subtle tang. Enjoy!"

  1. Delicious beans. I had to to use canned beans, but will make them again when I have fresh. Thanks for sharing. Made for What's on the Menu tag.

  2. We loved em! The only problem is, even 5 mins steaming is not enough time. It was very crunchy so we had to cook them ALOT longer. Maybe it was something I did wrong, but in any case they were great!

  3. Loved these slightly sweet and sour beans. We cooked them longer, as well, to suit our tastes better.

  4. Years ago we had a Barbeque Restaurant who served beans like these and I could never quite duplicate the balance the flavors. This recipe is just perfect and works well with turkey bacon. Thank you Happy Val for sharing the recipe.

  5. This was wonderful! I made it for a potluck at work, and acouple of people raised eyebrows at the ingredients. The sugar & vinegar combo surprised them. I got nothing but raves for it.
