Directions

  1. Combine broth, water, onion, celery, and carrot in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Add in barley, black beans, great northern beans, kidney beans, oil, chili powder, cumin and oregano.
  3. Cover with lid and cook until the beans are tender, about 4 hours on HIGH or 7-8 hours on LOW.
  4. Season with salt, and pepper if needed.
  5. Serve with toasted sourdough bread with melted pepper jack cheese.
