  1. This has worked pretty well for me. Because of allergies I needed a basic substitute and was very happy to find this. Make sure to let it reduce all the way down to 1/2 cup for best results.

  2. This is a great substitute for soy sauce! Now, let me tell you that this is kind of like soy sauce: it tastes like it, minus the salt. BUT, it was great nonetheless. I loved it, my hubby loved it, and while I still love my soy sauce because of the salt, I love this as well. I used this in my fried rice recipe and it worked out very well! I doubled (maybe even tripled) the amount of pepper, garlic powder and onion powder Thank you so much for posting this here on Zaar! I will be making this again!

  3. there is no substitution for the real thing, but this came pretty close, and thank goodness, because I was out of soy sauce, and didn't feel like running to the store.

  4. I tried this thinking it would taste like soy sauce, given the great reviews. However, it tasted nothing like soy sauce. Soy sauce is made from soy, and is salty.

  5. Nice recipe although I think it needs 2 tbs balsamic vinegar besides the cider vinegar and slightly more molasses (2tsp). Complains about missing salt in the other reviews? I found that my beef broth had enough for our tasting.
