Spaceship Aka New Taco Bell Crunchwrap

"Well, I saw a new Taco Bell commercial that was advertising the new Crunchwrap Supreme. I thought it looked good, but I'm sure I can cook better than they can ;) So here goes. I don't know how much like theirs this is, but mine is definitely yummy. They look like little spaceships to me while I was making them so they were renamed. I believe Taco Bell uses nacho cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese. This recipe has passed the kid test."

directions

  • Brown the ground turkey in heated olive oil. Follow directions on taco seasoning package to season meat (usually about 3/4 cup of water and package of seasoning).
  • Place corn tortillas in oven on broil to make crisp. You will have to watch them carefully and make sure to turn them over once so that they are crispy all the way through.
  • Lay all of the flour tortillas out flat and divide the meat mixture among them evenly. Make sure to get the meat in the CENTER of the tortillas.
  • Place a corn tortilla on top of seasoned meat.
  • Place lettuce, tomato, and cheese on top. Carefully fold flour tortilla up around the corn tortilla.
  • Place each spaceship on a grill just to brown the flour tortilla.
  • You should flip and grill the other side if the flour tortilla overlaps in the center. If not, place in a saucer with the grilled side up. Place in the microwave for about 30 seconds to melt the cheese.
  • (You can serve sour cream on top or even inside the wrap. Your choice. You can also use beef instead of turkey.).

  1. Yum yum yum!! I adjusted this recipe a little to fit my likings. First of all, I used seasoned taco beef. I microwaved the tortillas to make them bendable. I put a layer of shredded cheese, a layer of beef and some more cheese, then I put a crunchy tostada on top. I topped that with a layer of refried beans and some more cheese. I then folded the tortilla around and used refried beans as an adhesive to keep it folded together. I then toasted this in a skillet for about 3-5 mins per side, similar to how you would a grilled cheese. I served this with some taco sauce to dip in. Delicious! I will definitely make again, thanks!

  2. OK its not often you get a recipe that taste good, and has so many laughs with it.Here what happened, followed your instruction, except used ground round. Everything was fine till I got to the tortillas. Bought a new brand (Carlita) because they were bigger, thinking they would be better. Well, I couldn't get them to come apart, I worked and worked, then they had holes in them they were so thin and stuck together, I was getting nervous, I hate last minute problems, so luckily I had some of my old brand of tortillas (Mission) but they were not as big, so wouldn't even think about going around the tostata, which by the way I used something called charras tostada corn tostado, they were already crispy, so I could leave out that step. Anyway I ended up putting them together and then sprinkling cheese all around the outside rim of the burritto, and then put another burrito on the finished dish, heated a skillet and let the cheese melt and pressed the edges together and flipped. It was the funnist looking thing you ever saw, I was waiting for blackbirds to fly out of the big pie ha! We all had a good laugh, escpecially when I told them what it was suppose to look like! But it was yummy, and that's what counts, I was just glad it was only family to dinner tonight! hee hee

  3. My boyfriend was a huge fan of the now discontinued Spicy Chicken Crunchwrap Supreme, so we had to try this. We used cut up grilled boneless skinless chicken breast instead of the ground meat, added some jarred queso dip with the meat layer, spread sour cream on the tostada, and threw in a few black olives simply because we could, put a 2-inch diameter piece of tortilla on top to cover the hole, and used the George Foreman grill. They turned out great. His only complaint was that they weren't spicy enough. My only complaint was that I had a hard time keeping them folded when trying to close the grill. Will make again.

  4. These came out AWESOME! I added a few ingredients to mine and cut a few corners. Like instead of baking corn tortillas, I jus broke hard shell tacos in half to cut time although it's a pretty quick dish to make. I also used both shredded and can cheddar cheese for extra cheesiness. And to help hold the folds together I put a Lauer of refried beans on top of the crunchy taco she'll before folding the flour tortilla. Held like a charm and gave it added flavor. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE. Will be making this a regular meal for my family. Delicious !

Tweaks

  1. Easy short cut -- used pre-made tostada shells instead of baking corn tortillas. I also like to put salsa on top before folding and cooking...yum!
