  1. Heat virgin olive oil in a large saucepan.
  2. Cook onion and garlic until onion is soft.
  3. Add chili, anchovies, tomato, stock and sugar.
  4. Simmer uncovered, about 10 minutes or until sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in olives, capers and basil leaves.
  6. Cook spaghetti in a large pan of boiling salted water.
  7. When spaghetti is tender, remove from heat and drain.
  8. Toss hot spaghetti with half of the sauce.
  9. Place spaghetti on plates and top with remaining sauce.
  10. Serve with your favourite crusty bread.
