- 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 0.25 (28 ounce) can water (or less as needed)
- 1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 small yellow onion, minced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, minced
- 3 fresh garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 2 tablespoons dried basil
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
directions
- In a large pot saute onion, garlic, and green pepper in olive oil over medium heat until tender, then add remaining tomato and dry ingredients and continue stirring.
- Increase heat, stirring frequently, until sauce comes to a light boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 2 hours until done.
