- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 16 ounces tomato sauce
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
- 1 lb ground beef (optional)
directions
- Heat a medium pot to medium-high and brown ground beef.
- drain excess grease, and add in all the seasonings, onion, and garlic.
- reduce heat to medium, and cook until onion is soft (about 10 minutes).
- Mix in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste.
- simmer on low (2/10) for 30+ minutes (longer is better, recommend 1 hour for best results).
- Taste every 15 minutes and season to taste.
