Spam and Noodles Romanoff

"Yes, this has Spam in it. I know, I know. But it was my VERY FAVORITE dinner when I was a child, and I still like it. My husband scoffed when I first made it--but you know what? He had seconds."

directions

• Cook noodles as directed on package.
• Mix cottage cheese and sour cream into cooked noodles.
• Add Spam, sliced into 1/4 inch cubes.
• Add seasoning.
• Place in greased, 2 quart casserole dish.
• Sprinkle with cheese.
• Bake in 350 degree oven about 40 minutes.
• Note: My mom always used the dehydrated onions found in the spice aisle and garlic powder--also out of a little shaker.
• I've used fresh ingredients and I've used the dried--and you know what?
• I prefer the dried.

1. I thought this was great. I did omit the salt because the SPAM itself is salty enough. For the cheese I used a shredded cheddar jack blend. Definitely a keeper.

2. my family loved it thanks for posting

3. Just finished eating this at dinner. My husband and I loved it. Delicious. (I used dried onions and garlic.)

4. I fully expected this recipe to be just adequate - a way to use up some leftover turkey spam. However, we really liked it. This is definitely a keeper. Thanks.

5. jmelyn, this is SERIOUS comfort food. This reminded me (minus the Spam) of the boxed Betty Crocker Noodles Romanoff that were around in the 60's & 70's Maybe it's the dried onion flakes. I used Kluski dried noodles, as they are a little more substantial than regular packaged egg noodles.I cut some of the fat by using Spam Lite and 1% Cottage Cheese. Also added About a tablespoon of dried Parsley flakes. Who would've believed Spam would be over 2 bucks a can ??? Great pantry shelf casserole or potluck dish. Thanks for posting

Hi! I'm a mom to a four and a half year old boy and I work full time. Recently divorced...I don't have the time or money I used to have to plan and cook meals. But I still love to eat! I generally eat very healthy food, but sometimes indulge in old fashioned comfort food...as my recipe collection attests to.

Hope you like my recipes!
