"This recipe goes along with the Hillvilla Pumpkin Pie recipe that I just posted. It's the special seasoning that baker Eddie Palaski used for his famous pumpkin pie served at the Hillvilla Restaurant in Portland, Oregon, and was printed along with his obituary in the Oregonian newspaper."

Yields:: 3/4 cup

ingredients

4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons ground allspice
2 tablespoons ground black pepper (that's correct!)
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon ground ginger

directions

Mix all ingredients together, and store in an airtight container. Makes approximately 3/4 cup.

Special is right! I thought I'd try this exactly as written even though the previous reviewer really didn't like the pepper. I'm glad I made a full batch because I'm going to use it in all my sweet pumpkin recipes from now on! I used it in my Recipe #338030 and they turned out far more delicious than they ever have with store bought pumpkin pie seasoning. Thanks!!

I would not have believed it possible until I tried this seasoning! It is, without a doubt, one of the best pumpkin pie spices I have ever used! Thank you, thank you, Mary, for posting this gem. Needless to say, I used it to make the Hillvilla Pumpkin Pie. This will stay in my cupboard instead of the bought pie spice. Made for Fall 2008 PAC.

My grandmother used to make the worlds best pumpkin pie. Even watching her when she was in her ripe old age of 92 I could never EVER duplicate the spices. I was always asked to get something she needed ..lol This recipe is DEAD ON. THANK YOU SO TERRIBLY MUCH.
