  1. In saucepan, bring mixture of 11/2 cups half and half, sugar and spices just to simmer, stirring often. Let cool to room temperature. Cover and chill 2 hours.
  2. Combine spice mix with whipping cream, 1 cup half and half, and vanilla. Mix well. Freeze in 4-5 quart ice cream freezer according to manufacturer's directions.
  3. Ripen 4 hours.
