Spiced Prune Cookies

"These cookies come from the (now deceased) mother of a friend. My copy of the recipe is in her handwriting and is very much a treasure. Most people believe that the cookie contains dates, not prunes. I don't bother to correct most. They are so good; why spoil it for them? (hehe)"

  1. Truly exceptional flavour! It is hard to find a cookie this different and also this good. Not particularly "pretty" but benefits from a decorative drizzle of white icing. Once tasted, no one will care what the cookie looks like. A great addition to a holiday cookie tray and sure to be a family favorite

  2. Yum! I decided to try these for my five year old son who really needs more fiber. Now I'm trying not to eat them all myself! I used a cup of whole wheat flour in place of one of the cups of all purpose and I added a pinch of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of vanilla. Thank you so much I think these were just what I was looking for!

  3. This is a wonderful cookie--low guilt factor with high taste factor! My husband came up from his office, following his nose, and kept coming back for more cookies! My kids loved them too. To help the "pretty" factor, I shaped them into balls (sprayed my hands w/Pam first). Then I sprinkled w/powdered sugar while they were warm. They taste even better to me tonight (the next day), maybe because I haven't been tasting so much batter!
