  1. Scald milk.
  2. Add sugar, salt, and oil.
  3. Cool to lukewarm.
  4. Dissolve yeast in water.
  5. Combine yeast mixture, eggs, and milk mixture.
  6. Sift flour and spices.
  7. Add to liquid mixture.
  8. Beat until smooth.
  9. Cover and let stand one hour or more in a warm place.
  10. Batter will be light and bubbly.
  11. Stir down batter.
