Spicy Pork Casserole With Apple

"Once again, I don't remember where I got this one from, but since I wrote it on an index card, I know it was good. For a time, when I found and tried something new, if I liked it, I copied it onto an index card, with the result that the source was permanently lost. I need to do it again, now that I have found it again!"

  1. This was delicious! We didn't find it to be bland as the last reviewer did; I thought it was very flavorful. My boyfriend usually doesn't say a lot about the food that I cook, but he complimented this one several times during dinner. Thanks for the great recipe!

  2. It was just okay. I usually serve pork chops with applesauce so I thought I would really like this. I found it a bit too bland. I might make it again but I think I would caramelize the onions first. The sauce was really good over rice though. I used cornstarch instead of flour to make it gluten free.

  3. Love apples with pork chops so this was a wonderful recipe for us! I used 6 boneless pork chops and sprinkled with garlic powder instead of rubbing with the garlic clove. The pork chops were very tender and the onions and apple spice flavors blended so well together! I served with mashed potatoes for a great comfort food meal! Thank you aussiekarin, will be making these pork chops again!

I originally joined the site as "aussiekarin", but decided instead to go with my nickname - Kayne. Sorry if this causes any confusion! I moved to the US from Australia in 1970, and apart from three years in Germanyhave been here the whole time. However, still consider myself an Australian, although I was actually born in Holland. Since I come from such a diversified background, my cooking is rather strange at times. Many times it is a combiniation of Dutch, Aussie / English, German and American. I'm not really much of a cook, but enjoy it, nevertheless. I just wish I knew more and could do more - without a recipe! I'm retired now, so one of my goals is to really learn to cook. I intend to enjoy my retirement, doing what I never had time to do before. Since joining Recipezaar in November, 2006, I find that my cooking has changed somewhat. I'm more adventurous, willing to try new and more varied tastes, and combinations, and just about all of what I prepare is edible. Lately, due to a major life change, I've been letting my cooking go, but hopefully that will change one day. Oddly, I miss it, more than I ever thought I would!!!!!
