  • Sautee onion, garlic, and carrot in oil.
  • Add stock and 2 cups water.
  • Add split peas and bayleaf.
  • Bring to a low boil.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Let simmer for one hour or until peas are soft.
  • Use a rotary blender (boat motor), blender, or food processor until smooth (add water to thin if too thick).
  • Stir in ham, sourcream, and season to taste.

  1. I really love this! I let it simmer most of the day on minimum heat and at dinner it was thick and perfect. Very deep flavor and the Veggie stock is just ideal here and the sour cream adds uniqueness(as I have never put it in pea soup before)and another flavor level. It's oh so easy and quick to put together and with only the occasional stir during cooking it tends to it's self. The aroma is nothing short antisapition in a pot! My super picky DH had two big bowls and this is now my standard pea soup recipe. Thank you so much for shareing this Vicki.
