directions

  • Place potatoes in a 5-quart slow cooker.
  • In a small bowl, combine garlic powder and pepper blend. Add seasoning packet included with brisket. (If no packet is included, use 1 tablespoon of seafood broil seasoning). Season both sides of the brisket with mixture. Place brisket on top of the potatoes, cutting to fit if necessary.
  • In a medium bowl, stir to gether Bass Ale, 1/4 cider vinegar, and mustard. Pour into slow cooker over brisket. Cover and cook on HIGH setting for 1 hour. Switch to LOW setting and cook for 4 hours.
  • In a medium bowl, toss cabbage with remaining cider vinegar and salt. Add cabbage mixture to the slow cooker, pushing down on top of the brisket. Cover and cook on LOW setting for an additional 3 to 4 hours.
  • Serving Ideas: Accompany with two or three small pots of different deli mustards. Makes a great sandwich the day after.

  1. This is a MUCH loved recipe in my house of picky eaters. I made it exactly as the recipe is written and never had anything but a delicious outcome. Note: I always buy the corned beef with the spice packet so I never had to sub with other seasoning... Always has us looking forward to March 17th!

  2. My wife makes this for me every year, and its incredible. The burst of flavor is a welcomed addition to what can sometimes be a very bland meal. Do yourself a favor, and follow the recipe (although I do like substituting white cabbage and cutting the final cook to an hour as suggested from the review above mine). Do yourself another favor and drink the other 5 Bass Ale's while its cooking. Awesome recipe for an awesome day. Thank you NELady!

  3. I can't really rate this as I just wanted to see about how much time it takes in a crockpot. I put my cornbeef in the crockpot and added the pack of seasoning that came with it and about 1/2 cup of water. I then took one large cabbabe cut it in quarters and put that in with the carrots and potatoes. Cooked on high for 2 hours and 4 hours on low. It was very moist and delicious. Thanks for posting this so I could estimate the time for mine.

  4. I followded the directions on this to the letter and I couldn't eat the vegetables. It was entirely too hot. I love corned beef but this was ruined with all the spices and the red pepper. The meat was ediable the next day after discarding the broth and vegetables. I won't be using this one again.

  5. I used white cabbage which I put in the last hour after taking out the fully cooked carrots and potatoes. I used bay leaf, red pepperflakes, garlic salt and pepper to season. No seafood seasoning. Otherwise...I followed the directions!
