  • Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Line sheet pan/cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Use electric mixer (dough hook), mix dry ingredients including peanut butter on low speed.
  • Add the lightly beaten egg and 1 cup water and mix until it forms a slightly sticky ball.
  • Dump the dough onto a well-floured board and knead into a ball. Roll the dough out 1/2 inch thick.
  • Cut the dough into small squares with a pizza cutter. Or use a cookie cutter. That's more work and the dog won't care about the treat's shape. Treats from cookie cutters make nice family gifts, however.
  • Optional: Brush dough with egg wash and sprinkle oatmeal.
  • Bake in 325 degree oven for 60 minutes until completely hard.
  • Cool, then break up the cooked sheet into squares.
