  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Grease and flour a 6-cup fluted tube pan; set aside. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spice and 1/4 teaspoons salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
  4. Add sugar; beat until combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. In a bowl, combine half-and-half, orange juice and vanilla. Alternately, add flour mixture and juice mixture to egg mixture, beating on low speed after each addition just until combined. Fold in strawberries and orange peel. Spoon batter into prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 50 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove, cool slightly. Serve warm.
  8. If desired, serve with Butter sauce.
  9. To prepare Butter Sauce: Heat 3/4 cup butter over medium-low heat until melted. Remove. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar; add 1 slightly beaten egg yolk. Cook and stir just until thickened and starting to bubble. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. If desired, strain.
