Strawberry Dainty

"Back in the day when I was a kid, our neighbor Jeanette Lewis used to make this sweet side (a good dessert too!) and bring it to local get-togethers. I had forgotten this recipe, but my mother had kept it and recently gave me a copy. Still yummy, after all these years!"

  • Dissolve the gelatin in the 2 cups of hot water.
  • Mix in the sugar.
  • Allow to cool until it is syrupy.
  • While waiting for syrup to cool, whip the cream.
  • Fold the whipped cream, nuts and strawberries into the gelatin.
  • Crumble the graham crackers and place most crumbs in the bottom of a 9 x 13 dish.
  • Reserve some crumbs to sprinkle on top of the dainty.
  • Pour the strawberry mixture into the dish and top with graham cracker crumbs.
  • Chill and serve.
