  1. Place 1 quart of the fresh whole strawberries into the baked pie crust.
  2. Mash the remaining quart of berries.
  3. Mix the sugar and cornstarch together and add it to the mashed berries.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium to medium high heat, stirring constantly. Cook until the mixture thickens and clears.
  5. Cool mixture slightly.
  6. Pour mixture over the strawberries in the pie crust. Chill several hours.
  7. Top with whipped cream and serve.
