  1. mix cornstarch and water, set aside.
  2. heat jam to a boil, add cornstarch mixture.
  3. stir constantly, bring to a boil, simmer 3 minutes.
  4. add lemon juice and chopped walnuts (if desired).
  5. spoon over french toast.
