“I adapted this from one of my most favorite cookie recipes (#53301). I just always thought it would make a yummy brownie. This recipe doubles well, just use a 9x13 pan. Cook time may need adjustment.”

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 14 cups butter, softened (I use Earth Balance Buttery Sticks)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg (I use Ener-G egg replacer)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 13 cup cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chunk (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla.
  3. Blend in the cocoa. Add baking soda and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add flour to the creamed mixture and then add the chocolate chunks.
  5. Pour into a greased 8x8 baking dish and bake for 25-30 min at 350 degrees.
