Sweet and Buttery Butter Beans

"An easy and quick way to liven up a can of butter beans. Also a good way to get kids to eat their beans. Goes great aside a meal of meat and mashed potatoes."

  • Drain out just a small bit of liquid from the can.
  • In a small saucepan, combine beans with remaining liquid, brown sugar and butter; mix well.
  • Cook over medium heat until heated through and until sugar and butter is dissolved.

  1. So simple and great tasting. I would of liked the sauce to be much thicker. I drained a small amount of liquid from the can. The next time I will drain most of the liquid from the can. hank you
     
  2. I used fresh Fava beans. First I shelled them then blanched the beans for 1 minute to remove the membrane, placed them in a metal cup with the butter and splenda brown sugar, covered with foil and placed them on the BBQ away from the flame for about 10 minutes - they were heavenly! Served with BBQ potato & pepper packets,BBQ Bistro chicken and steamed new baby carrots. A meal fit or a queen Thanks for posting this simple, delicious recipe Dancing Cook

Welcome! I joined this website in 2001, as a new wife and Mom of a 1 y/o and I was 28 yrs old and did not know about cooking. I found this website cause I searched the web and wanted to find a good recipe for carrots! I found that recipe and so much more here over the years. I learned so much from this website and opened up my eyes to other recipes. I now am 46 y/o. I am now divorced and my then 1 y/o son is now a Marine. I have a wonderful man in my life that loves and appreciates my cooking and I thank this site for all of its help. I still come here for recipes.
