  • Stir cornstarch into 1/4 cup of the water; set aside.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Stir in green onions, ginger, and garlic; cook 30 seconds.
  • Stir in shrimp, and toss to coat with oil.
  • Quickly stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Toss and stir until sauce is thick and bubbly.

  1. This was my first attempt at Chinese cooking and OMG was this fantastic! The only changes that I made were to use gluten free soy sauce, and I tripled the red pepper flakes. I only had a pound of shrimp, so I added stir fry veggies as well. I threw this all together, served it over Thai rice noodles, and had an amazing meal in minutes. My boyfriend gave it great reviews as well, and asked that this be added to our weekly rotation :)

I'm a 48 y/o gay Jewish man in the suburbs immediately north of New York City. I'm a general internist, practicing and teaching at a medical college north of NYC. I also earned a Masters in Public Health degree in 2013. After a Walt Disney World trip in Dec 2006 where I had to rent an electric scooter because I couldn't manage the walking, I decided to have gastric bypass surgery, which was done Feb 28, 2007. I lost 160 lbs (though I've gained back about 60 of that since). I can't eat as much as I used to, so I want every bite to be extra good!
