  • Heat oven to 200°F Place corn taco shells on pan and crisp in oven for 15-20 minutes while cooking meat.
  • Combine all ingredients up to and including the water and knead to blend well.
  • In a large frying pan or wok, saute meat for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up into fine pieces with a spatula.
  • Heat the refried beans in a microwave for several minutes. They should be hot and creamy in consistency.
  • Place 2-4 flour tortillas on microwaveable plate. Cover tortillas with plastic wrap. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute Repeat as needed.
  • Spread each warmed flour tortilla with 2 tablespoons of the beans; place crisp taco shell on beans, then fold soft tortilla over taco shell.
  • Fill taco shells with seasoned meat; top evenly with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. Serve with favorite salsa or hot sauce.

  2. Quick and easy weeknight dinner. Assembled individually, so everyone can add the toppings they like. I made homemade refried beans using recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/simple-and-easy-homemade-refried-beans-460636 . So easy, and so much better than the canned variety!
     
  3. The first time I saw/had these at Taco Bell I wondered why I hadn't thought of it myself! Now I don't eat at Taco Bell anymore, but not one Taco Night goes by in this house without double deckers being made. I got my husband hooked on them, and now we've even converted some of our friends to the "DD" way of doing things. It's the best of both worlds!

  1. I had some Cin Chili (ground beef version) leftover and Pintos n’ Cheese, great for Double Deckers. Both the recipes are posted here. Nice way to get the best of leftovers.
