- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 3 cups water
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon minced white onion
- 2 tablespoons jarred canned jalapeno slices, diced
- 1⁄2 tablespoon jalapeno juice (from the jar, to taste)
directions
- Combine the tomato paste with the water in large non-reactive pot.
- stir until smooth.
- Add cayenne, chilli powder, salt, corn starch, and vinegar.
- Bring to a hard boil, stirring often. Boil for 3-5 minutes. remove from heat. Cool then refrigerate
- (if desired use sterile jars, rings and lids for hot water canning method for 20 minutes to make shelf stable. Once jars are opened be sure to refrigerate!).
