"If you love Taco Via in Kansas City because of their chilled taco sauce, this recipe will please you. It's not exactly the same, but you will love the peppery, chilled concoction when you're far from home."

 1. So update this recipe... 1 16 oz of Pace Picante (any spice level) 1 Packet Ranch Fiesta Dip/Dressing mix 1 8 oz can (no salt) tomato sauce 1 tsp black pepper 1 8 oz can water (use tomato can) Blend until smooth with blender. Do not veer from this recipe, have tried the mix many different ways. Add more water if too salty. Use 3/4 of the packet if you want it just a bit less spicy. It's Taco Via - trust me, it's a match as I ordered sauce (and some enchiladas!) and did a side by side compare. Even has the smell we all remember! Take a tostada, place some cheddar on it with sauce, microwave for 30 seconds. Done.

 2. I just made and put it in my Vitamix to blend it smooth and is is very good. Not exactly but not bad if you can't have the real thing. Don't use Hot Pace or it will blow your head off. Also it tastes nothing like ranch. You sure just don't dump the ingredients together and be done done, you must blend it. If you haven't made it then you should not be reviewing it.

 3. You obviously have never ate at Taco Via so I don't know why you would put some copy cat recipe on the net. It is not chunky like a picante sauce and has no hint? of ranch. Your recipe should not even get 1 star.??

 4. I could not give this zero stars, so I had to give it a "one". This bad joke of a recipe is an insult to all true Taco Via sauce fanatics. It's nowhere even close.

Firstly, it's a sauce, not a salsa, and is much thinner. Strike one for inaccurate consistency.
Secondly, there is not even a hint of Ranch flavour in the sauce. Strike two for being just plain unbelievable.
Strike three for adding black pepper "or more according to taste". It's either accurate or not, and there's much more black pepper than that in it.
Three strikes. You're out and this innacurately described recipe should be as well.

 5. Use a low sodium salsa, like Chi Chi's thick and chunky medium. I found it much better.

Hello recipezaar chefs... I don't post many recipes because I really don't cook too often! (gasp) but when I do, I like it to be something 100% worth my time. I'm single and cook for myself about twice a week. Other than that, I'm probably on the front porch with a glass of wine and a crossword. :) I can only aspire to have a repertoire of wonderful recipes in my book as time goes by. Recipezaar rocks.
