Tacos

"This is how we enjoy tacos! You can use my recipe #166030, 166030. I am very bad about measuring and recording exact amounts. Needless to say, I am very nervous about making this recipe public. Please taste the finished product and adjust to your liking."

directions

  • Cook meat, onion, garlic and cilantro stirring often til meat is no longer pink. Drain fat.
  • Add seasoning and 3/4 cup water or beer to meat mixture and stir to blend. Only use beer if you like beer! lol You could also use half beer and half water. DH always comes in and adds a glug or two from his can behind my back so I never know exactly how much is in there! grrrr.
  • Simmer until liquid has evaporated.
  • Serve with desired toppings. Get creative! Use what you like!
  • This can fill tortillas, corn or flour, or be used to top corn or tortilla chips. When I make this I make a taco salad on my plate, dd makes that or some tacos and dh always makes nachos putting only cheese on top and microwaving til the cheese is melty. To each his own! I get three different meals with one skillet! Happy mama!

  1. This was a hit. I made one batch with water and one with beer. The beer won. No water next time. What was I thinking ? Beer always wins

  2. I was so happy to find a good recipe for tacos. I made these and my BF loved them. I liked that the onions, cilantro and garlic all cooked with the beef before adding the seasoning. I topped with lettuce, cheese, sour cream and salsa. Thank you for posting.

  3. Wow! I think I finally found my favorite taco recipe. I used the beer. I followed the recipe exactly, except I also added a small can of tomato sauce and small can of (drained) mild green chiles. Loved this!!! Thanks for sharing!

  4. LOVE THIS! Such a great twist on the plain ol' taco meat. I feed very picky eaters, and I've had 4 requests for this in less then 2 weeks! The beer is so different, and gives it a great added flavor!

  5. Approx. how many taco shells should one purchase for this recipe? Thanks for responding MD

Tweaks

  1. I loved this. I would have never thought of putting beer instead of water. I tasted as is and it was great. We like beans added to our filling, so I added a can of refried beans to the mix and it was great that way too.

  2. first off this is what i changed. I chose to use the water instead of the beer. i left the rest exactly ad the recipe explained. I loved this recipe because my kids loved it. They are extremely fussy eaters so when I find a recipe that they enjoy i know it's a five star just because

  3. Great taco recipe! I especially liked using the beer instead of water, it made the meat mixture more saucy than water will. I also liked the addition of corn on the tacos, which I've never had before. For toppings we used sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes(well, DH used those), cheese, red onion and the corn. I was going to make the Recipe #166030 but was out of chili powder so I just used a packet of taco sesaoning. Thanks Hope!
