  1. This is almost exactly how my mom use to make tartar sauce too. I am over 50 years old so this recipe is at least that old. I am pretty sure she only used Miracle Whip when I was a kid and she always added a little ketchup for a pinkish color. Of course she just dumped everything in a bowl and always made it taste just right. Now I sometimes omit the ketchup, dice some onion and dill pickle very fine and add just a tad bit of sugar. Thanks for a trip down memory lane!!

  2. I omitted the sugar, and didn't measure anything - this was way better "tarter sauce" than any tarter sauce I've ever had. I was thinking it didn't really taste like tartar sauce, but my guests were all raving. I thought it was yummy, just not tartar sauce-esque. I was wrong! :) Great recipe - and super easy.

  3. Great recipe! I omitted the Miracle Whip and sweet pickles since I didn't have any and honestly didn't measure anything (terrible of me I know, but I only needed a few tablespoons so I just eyeballed it). Thanks for sharing!
