Made this tonight (hadn't made it in years) and it was a HIT. This is a true kid-pleaser recipe! I use salt free tomato sauce because the taco seasoning is salty enough and I use 1 1/2 cans of sauce instead of 2. We prefer regular Velveeta instead of the spicy kind. Lastly, we top ours with olive slices and sour cream :) Thanks for posting (so that I didn't have to)!

Thank you so much for posting what is very close to the original recipe on the Velvetta Box (32 oz.) in the late 80s and 90s. I couldn't find the recipe and so many have altered the original to suit their taste that it was difficult to find. I have also altered the recipe but to me the original crust and Velvetta can't be replaced for this tasty recipe. I always fed 4 people with this recipe and green onion, black olives, sour cream, and/or salsa spice it up even more. I have found that while only 8 oz. of tomato sauce is a little harder to spread, it gives a nice consistency on top of the "crescent" crust. Thanks again for posting an "oldie but goodie!" BTW: with homemade taco seasoning, ground turkey can easily replace the ground beef.

YUM! Made this tonite in less than 45 min from taking the beef out of the freezer! Just defrosted the beef in the microwave and baked the shell while i made the filling. I baked it in a regular pie dish, so it was a little deeper. I also used regular cheddar cheese slices (what i had on hand). Definitely will make this again.

I'm not rating this as I have not tried this recipe. The copy of this recipe I have calls for 1/4 cup pitted ripe olive slices. The recipe also calls to serve this with sour cream, if desired. The rest is the same. The temp says to bake it at 375. The directions says to drain the meat after browning it. It also says to press the rolls in a ungreased 12-inch pizza pan. Prick bottom & sides with fork. Microwave: Crumble meat into 1-quart casserole. Microwave on HIGH 3-4 minutes or until meat loses pink color when stirred; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and seasoning mix. Microwave 3 minutes. Continue as directed. Prep: is 10 minutes and Cooking: is 20 minutes. Thanks for posting what looks like such a good recipe!
