Reviews

  1. It's fantastic and simple...... like any recipe adjust things accordingly..... the comments of high calories and high salt are ridiculous...... This is comfort food, not a health food version..... Simple things like the low sodium versions of the canned soups, low fat beef or even ground turkey..... common sense if you want or need to lesson fat or salt intake....

  2. I've had versions of this in the past and never really cared for them. But this is much more tasty! The celery, onion and worcestershire give a nice flavor boost. I put a layer of frozen corn on top of the meat, but that's all I added. I sprinkled some of the cheddar on top of the tots about 10 minutes prior to the end of baking time. Thanx for posting!

  3. I made this for potluck at church - it disappeared quickly! My only change was that I mixed celery, onion and Worcestershire sauce into beef instead of layering. Also, added frozen mixed vegetables as a layer on top of beef. Received many compliments -delicious!

  4. This was a great version of this meal, my family does not enjoy uncooked veggies so I cooked the celery and onion together with a 1/2 table spoon of butter. Then poured the cooked veggies into the bowl with the cheese. I also cooked the ground beef with season salt and pepper corn garlic mix to give it a little more flavor. After mixing the cream of celery and cream of mushroom together I just mixed all the ingredients except tots in one bowl including the woshire sauce (which is awesome in this reciepe) then placed tots down first and layer mixed ingredients over the top. Lastly sprinkled cheese on top in last 10 minutes of cooking because you can't ever have enough cheese ;)

  5. This was great. My boys ages 9,4, & 2 ate it right up & they are quite picky! I substituted the celery for chopped spinach. It is rare I find a quick, easy & delicious meal that all 3 of them will eat!

Tweaks

  1. I had some potato patties already so I crumpled them and used them instead of the tots. And my dearly beloved hates celery if he knows it is there. He has "Barts Syndrome", and he has a big deal about textures. So, I can sneak in flakes or seeds, but not fresh, so I subbed bell pepper for the celery. And instead of celery soup, I used golden mushroom. It all worked like a charm, and bell peppers are mild enough for kids as well. Good recipe.

  2. Actually a few tweaks here....I cooked the onion with the hamburger then layered frozen corn, put the cheese on the covered it with a mixture of cream of mushroom and cream of celery soups then the tater tots
