directions

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water with a teaspoon of sugar; let stand until frothy.
  • Combine yeast mixture, milk, 1/2 cup sugar and enough flour to make a medium batter (about the consistency of pancake batter).
  • Beat thoroughly.
  • Add melted butter, eggs and salt. Beat well.
  • Add enough flour to form a soft dough.
  • Sprinkle a small amount of flour onto counter and let dough rest.
  • Meanwhile, grease a large bowl.
  • Knead dough until smooth and satiny and put in greased bowl; turn over to grease top. (I used the dough hook on my Kitchen-Aid to knead this for about 4-5 minutes).
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk.
  • Punch down. Turn out onto a floured board.
  • Divide into portions for shaping; let rest 10 minutes.
  • Shape dough into desired forms.
  • Place on greased baking sheets. Let rise until doubled.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Baste immediately with butter.
  • Serve with Cinnamon Honey Butter.

  1. So I have a son who LOVES Texas Roadhouse Rolls (actually most breads!) and I have been trying many different recipes since I’ve been working from home and can bake. This by far is the closest and the best recipe to make them!! I halved the recipe because I didn’t need to feed and army and we went through almost all of them in one night!

  2. Thank you for this recipe! My son loves Texas Roadhouse rolls and they came out amazing! I had tried a different recipe, which did not come out well, so I was very happy that I tried again with yours. I did have to wait close to 3-4 hours for the dough double, but it was cool today, and certainly worth the wait!

  3. These taste just like the way Texas Roadhouse makes them....very fluffy, tender, and slightly sweet. Perfect alone, or slathered with cinnamon-butter.

  4. Thrilled that I have the honor of being the first to review this awesome recipe. I followed as directed except for one small change. Once the rolls were shaped, took most of them and froze and then placed in sealed bag to have available. Made enough for me and DH to have at dinner and could have had more. They are so light and fluffy with just a slightly sweet taste and the dough is so easy and fun to work with. Served with Honey Cinnamon Butter and are wonderful.
