  • I recommend peeling, coring, and slicing your apples before you preheat your oven!
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the butter until the mixture is consistently crumbly. Press half of the crumble mixture into a greased 9 inch square or round baking dish. Cover evenly with the apple slices. I like to sprinkle a little extra cinnamon over the apples slices!
  • In a small sauce pan, combine sugar, cornstarch, water, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, and then cook and stir for about 2 minutes. The filling should be thick and gooey! Don’t skip the cornstarch- it is what gives the filling its thickness.
  • Pour the filling over the apples, and then sprinkle the rest of the crumble mixture over the top. Bake for one hour. The apples will be soft and the topping crispy. You can enjoy it warm with ice cream, or even just by itself!

I?m Caitlen, and I am happily married to Patrick! We live in a tiny town that you have never heard of in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. I?m currently a homemaker with a passion for cooking! I am in love with the western mountain lifestyle and I?m blessed to have a good horse and a handful of fur babies. I can usually be found reading or cooking and listening to bluegrass and old country. I love our simple little life, and I hope you enjoy reading about it!
