The Realtor's Shrimp Scampi W/Spaghetti

"This will blow you away. The first time you serve this, you'll be ok because they don't know how great it's going to be. The second time you serve this, you better put it on the table and get out of the way FAST cause they are going to knock you down trying to get to it. It's a recipe that I have developed through years of making it over and over and over. This is the best version I have been able to create. NOTE: This recipe is to be used with 1/2 pound of spaghetti. If you are using 1lb of spaghetti, double the recipe because there won't be enough sauce for a full pound. If you are doubling it, don't double the lemon juice or it'll be too tart, just bump it up to 3 Tbsp. and only bump the lemon pepper up to 3/4 tsp or it will be too salty for some people. MANGIA!"

directions

  • Start the water for the spaghetti and cook the spaghetti while you are doing the following.
  • In a skillet over medium high heat, melt butter, add oil and garlic. Cook garlic until it just starts to brown, about 4 or 5 minutes.
  • Add the wine, lemon juice, parsley, lemon pepper and tobasco.
  • Simmer 5 minutes.
  • After the 5 minutes are up, add the shrimp to the skillet and stir them around so they are covered with the juice and turn off the burner. Just let them soak in there, doing the backstroke through the sauce while the spaghetti finishes cooking. Stir them around a couple of times while you're waiting.
  • Drain the spaghetti and put it in the serving bowl, pour the shrimp and all the sauce over top and sprinkle the entire 1/2 cup (or more) of parmesan over the top and serve.
  • Pass more romano cheese at the table. Is there ever enough cheese on there?

  1. This was truly an outstanding recipe! It was very easy to put together and the directions were great. I did make one slight change. I sliced 5 green onions thinly, added the white parts when I added the shrimp, and topped with the green parts at the end of the recipe. Thanks so much for posting this recipe. It's going right into my Keepers folder!

  2. I read reviews and had to try this recipe as it contains three of our favorites: shrimp, garlic and pasta. It did not disappoint!!! I've used red pepper flakes in similar recipes and never thought of using Tabasco. Husband loves red pepper and seemed confused when he tasted this dish but couldn't find the "flavor flakes". When told that it's Tabasco instead, he actually said he prefers it because the flavor and heat is more consistent throughout the dish. The only change that I'll consider when making this next time is increasing the butter, wine and lemon juice by 1 Tablespoon each to add a little more moisture to the finished dish..

  3. Another winner! This was so easy and fast, yet very flavorful. I made this exactly as posted, and wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing this keeper. Made for Please Review My Recipe Tag Game.

I'm a full-time Realtor for Century 21 Graham Realty during the day and at night I'm a wife and mother of one 6 year old daughter, Angelina plus one small dorkie dog (dachshund-yorkie mix) named Petey. I love to cook and experiment with new recipes. I've been collecting cookbooks (I have a few hundred) and recipes for as long as I can remember. I like to buy recipe boxes at yard sales and auctions and peak through them for yummy recipe gems. I've found some really amazing recipes that way. I'm a huge fan of Le Creuset enameled cast iron cookware. I've been collecting different pieces for a few years now. I always considered myself a great cook but these pans raise things to a whole new level. I'm planning to post all of my favorite recipes that I've collected over the years. I have all these clippings and pieces of paper and magazine clips that are everywhere. My recipe boxes are packed with these things and it's time to organize the whole mess. I suppose it will take years (did I say years?!?) to get them all posted but it's worth it. So keep checking back to my posts for new goodies. I can't wait to see what long lost gems turn up. I've already run across several of my old favs. Isn't it nice to have all your best recipes all organized right here? I've also been printing them out and putting them in a nice new binder where I can actually find them when I want to make them. I LOVE this site. I have found some of the best recipes EVER right here on 'Zaar. There are some fantastic cooks here and I just want to say "Thank you" to all of you who have made me look like the greatest cook on the planet with your wonderful recipes. I try to make as many new ones each week as I can. It's so much fun experimenting. My DH of 9 years is my guinea pig- he will eat ANYTHING I put in front of him. My little girl... well, she's more of a challenge to please. Not really picky but she doesn't really like meat or stuffing or peppers or mushrooms or.... oh, the new one is onions. I could go on but you get the idea. You probably have or had one just like her. They seem to learn all about these things that they don't like at school. All of the sudden...they don't like something they've been eating for 3 years because their friend "Alyssa" doesn't like it. What a challenge it is feeding these little creatures! That's her and Petey in the picture above. <img src="http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r317/j_welcome/pics2/food/PRMRcopy.jpg"> <img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e110/flower753/Food/soup_banner.jpg"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Recipezaar%20Album/iplaytagin.jpg"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/pt-shutterbug-banner-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/holidaybadge.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/potluckpbanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7505/mybanner4a394ee84d5f0.jpg" ><img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/ZaarStar-AMBanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a254/Sharon123/Copyoftag300-banner.jpg" border="0" alt="Susie's Banner for Newest Zaar Tag"><img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/Animation6.gif"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Banners/holidayprmr.jpg"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/Holiday-plaid_HPI.gif"> <img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y22/dcmac/PAC%20Fall%2009/Image1.jpg"> <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"> <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/participantbannerzwt5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><IMG src ="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z205/jubespage/cupwitchanimation-small3.gif"> <img src ="http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u208/diner_photos/lazymecookathon.jpg"> <img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/picwJT0Wr-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Banners/AMBadgeGenTP2009.jpg"> <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/PACsticker-Adopted.jpg">
