- 3 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 1⁄2 cups milk
- 1⁄4 cup parmesan cheese
- 6 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 ounces cream cheese, cubed
- 1⁄3 cup italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted

- Prepare macaroni according to package directions; rinse in cold water; store in refrigerator in pan full of cold water until ready to use.
- Combine the following in a large saucepan: flour and pepper.
- Add 1/2 cup milk, whisk until smooth. Gradually add 2 more cups of milk, stirring briskly.
- Cook over medium heat until mixture just barely begins to boil. Remove from heat; add cheese, stirring until melted.
- Stir in macaroni. Pour mixture into 9-inch square baking dish. Mix bread crumbs with butter.
- Sprinkle over top of casserole. Wrap, label and freeze.
- Thaw completely. Unwrap. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

Made two of these exactly the same, pretty much following your recipe, but using some bread crumbs from a loaf of some nutty, whole-grain bread that we like, & that really made for a satisfying & comforting mac & cheese! After a small taste test, the first batch was dispatched to a housebound neighbor couple who love the mac & cheese dishes I make for them, & the other batch was wrapped for freezing right here at home!
