I make this recipe all the time, and shared it with our recipe group -- who all went nuts about it. This works with roasts up to 3.5 lbs -- any larger and you'll need more spices. It can be done with any cut of beef, and I never use water. I do it with veggies, too, and it turns out fantastic. I got this orginally as a pressure cooker roast recipe -- it works great in both.

OMG so so good. The best roast we have ever had. I had to make a few changes based on what I had on hand. I only had half a pack of ranch dressing mix and I didn't have a italian salad dressing but did have a pasta dressing mix - fairly similar. I also used beef stock instead of water. We also served this over this chef's cornbread - so good and a great new way to eat roast and gravy. Thanks!

I am a single mother, who lives on a small farm. I like to read, cook and garden. I have spent most of this summer canning. I have 37 tomate plants in the garden. So I am looking for new ways to put them up. I collect cook books and currently have over two hundred. I am not afraid to try new things and will try anything once. I often whip up something that in theory sounds good in my head. Take a recipe and put a new twist on it. One of my favorite books is a 1947 copy of Farmers Canning and preserving cook book. Found it at a yard sale for a quarter. Have gotten my money out of it a thousand times over.
