Tongan Coconut Rolls

"Our old neighbor was from Tonga and his wife made these rolls and would share with us because my husband lived in Hawaii for a couple of years and grew to love the food there. I sometimes make my own homemade rolls recipe #103547 or the frozen Rhodes rolls. If you use the frozen dough, let them rise completely and then pour the sauce over the top and bake according to the directions. Same with homemade rolls. Rise completely and then pour sauce on and bake as directed. These rolls are sweet. Prep time listed is only for combining the ingredients for coconut sauce."

  1. Made homemade coconut milk #26714 and this worked out fine. It left a syrupy kind of icing on the bottom of my rolls that might have been good if it had stayed at the top. It was a bit too wet, though and I had to pour some off of the bottom. Didn't smell so great cooking either. But the rolls were yummy. If I could find a way to keep it on top and to make it a bit more like icing (powdered sugar) then it might be just perfect!
