ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1⁄2 lb fresh mushrooms, diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 lbs ground turkey
- 1 egg
- salt & pepper
- 3 cups oats (quick or rolled)
- 1⁄4 cup Worcestershire sauce
directions
- In lg. skillet saute onions, mushrooms, garlic, bay leaf until onions in oil and butter until are translucent. Add basil, thyme and oregano, and cook for 5-7 minutes or until liquid is almost gone. Remove from heat. Remove bay leaf.
- In lg. bowl, combine ground turkey with saute mixture, and oats, egg and worcestershire sauce and form into 8 patties.
- Cook in well oiled skillet or on the grill for 5-7 minutes per side.
- Serve on burger buns with guacamole and/or your choice of condiments.
