Ultimate Grilled Sandwich

“I clipped this from the newspaper a while back. It's a great sandwich with a twist from the ordinary. Please try to use the sourdough, it makes the sandwich. NOTE: Prep time does not include the time it takes to cook the bacon.”

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 8 slices bacon, cooked
  • 8 slices sourdough bread, 1/2-inch thick
  • 8 slices swiss cheese, light, thinly sliced
  • 2 plum tomatoes, cut into 16 thin slices
  • 1 vidalia onion, sliced (you need approx 1 cup)
  • 4 tablespoons light mayonnaise
  • salt & pepper

Directions

  1. Place four slices of bread on counter top and layer ingredients - cheese, tomato slices, onion, bacon, salt & pepper, and another slice of cheese.
  2. Top with remaining bread slices. Spread 1/2 tablespoon mayonaisse over top of each sandwich.
  3. Cook mayonaisse side down, on medium-low heat, until the bottom is golden (this should take approx 3 minutes).
  4. Spread remaining mayonaisse on top, turn sandwiches over, and cook until bottom side is golden. Cut and serve.
