Vanilla Red Tea

"This is actually a knock-off of Celestial Seasonings Madagascar Vanilla Red Tea. Some time ago I decided to buy all my own loose leaf tea ingredients and make my own tea blends (it's actually cheaper that way!). I used to buy Madagascar Vanilla Red and really enjoyed it, so of course I set out to make my own knock-off version. I looked up the ingredient list, and it's literally just vanilla and red rooibos. So, after some experimentation, I've got a ratio that tastes just like the original! This tea is best hot, but would probably make a nice iced tea too. Note: I've listed things in teaspoons because this website won't let me list it in parts, but it's technically in a ratio, so you can make whatever quantity you want."

directions

  • Assemble all the ingredients and place in a tea ball. Make sure you chop the vanilla bean into little pieces first. Note: Food.com made me list the rooibos under "rooibos tea bags", but I used loose-leaf red rooibos tea.
  • Place tea ball in hot water and steep for 10 minutes.

  1. A nice different flavour tea. I used a little vanilla paste and a organic rooibus honey-bush tea bag from Traditional Medicinals.
