  1. Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and the vegetables and cook until soft.
  2. Add the garlic and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the beef, tomatoes, tomato paste and water to the pan.
  4. Simmer until tomatoes are broken down and thickened and beef is cooked (1 hour).
  5. Before serving, top with the crumbled bacon.
