  • Cook raisins in 3/4 cup water for 5 minutes at a simmer. Cool until warm and drain.
  • Mix oatmeal, flour, baking soda, butter and brown sugar together.
  • Put 2/3 cup of the mixture in bottom of a 10 x 15 pan.
  • Bake 10 minutes in 350 degree Fahrenheit oven.
  • Mix sugar, sour cream, egg yolks, cornstarch, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and raisins together.
  • Cook in microwave until thick on high, for 6 minutes stirring often. Watch this as it scorches easily.

Questions & Replies

  1. How thick should the mixture be when taken from the microwave? Like stiff whipped cream were it doesn't close when a spoon is drawn through it? Like Honey? Give me some idea.

  1. Made for a great football snack/ and after school snack. I made these as written. I did take a reviewers note and added a dash of vanilla ice cream, with these. Very nice as warm, and even better leftovers too. Made for Gimme 5.

  2. Very close to the one I use that I found in Taste of Home. My changes pretty well match what was written in this recipe - A very good recipe. lady asked me to make a batch just for her family thanksgiving dinner and have given out recipe to others.

  4. This is my husbands new favorite dessert...he won't stop telling me how much he loves it and to make sure to give it a 5 star rating...this is very unusual for him...usually desserts are just "okay" with him. I've only made one other similar pie recipe and with both I had trouble knowing when the sour cream mixture was done...it didn't seem thick enough in both cases...I microwaved this an extra 4 minutes...and I stirred it every 1-2 minutes. All in all it turned out good as my husband loves it...I found it very sweet but nice. I put 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon and nutmeg in the crumb mix and doubled them in the sour cream mix. Thank you so much for this keeper recipe Dienia B. Made for 1-2-3 hit wonders game.

  5. Dienia, prepared these except that I used half raisins and half some craisins I had sitting around to be used up. Wow, this is one very rich and moist dessert. Add a tad bit of ice cream and we are in heaven. Thank You for sharing this wonderful recipe.
