Virginia Brownies

"If you like a fudgy brownie this is the one for you! The original recipe came from an old Southern Living book series that my Mom has. My baby brother would make this recipe and set up a brownie stand in the summer in leiu of the usual lemonade stand! We made this so much as kids the page it is printed on has fallen out of the book... I use melted butter in place of the shortening. This is good with or without the glaze."

  1. Well we LOVE fudgy brownies and this definitely hit the mark! I followed your hint and used butter in place of shortening and it worked perfectly. I did omit any nuts (family preference not mine! ha ha). I also did not frost these brownies. Just a hint (you may want to include those ingredients in your list but place a header for Frosting - I had to make sure a few times I was not using the wrong ingredients in the brownies). It did take mine 35 minutes to bake fully but ovens vary so no biggie. Thanks for sharing! :)

I am a preschool teacher in Florida, here since marrying my hubby in Sept of '04. I have a stepdaughter. No kiddos of our own unless you count those with fur :-) We have 2 cats and 2 dogs who think they are cats. We are inovoled with our church and with our local American Legion post, where I cook breakfast once a month for the community, so I am always looking for new and fun breakfast/brunch ideas.
