  1. This is the recipe that I have used for years! I do add 2tsp baking powder. Its sure makes a nice cake. Large enough as well. It also makes a great cake to carve for a party! Thanks

  2. I have been using this recipe for years and it it a favorite for sure! My recipe for Recipe #218589 goes very well with this cake. It is sweet, but not overly sweet, and it is a great frosting for designs. After my cake is frosted, I often take the tip of a rounded knife and press down on the frosting and then pull away and it makes picks all over the top of the cake. Very pretty, especially with chopped nuts, sprinkles, Jimmys, or anything else you might want to add on top.

  3. I grew up on this cake and love it! I usually make a mocha buttercream frosting, but it is good warm out of the oven with a little butter on top, too. I'm making it this weekend for a church picnic.

  4. Very easy to make. I followed the recipe for the most part. The only thing I did differently was forget to mix the dry ingredients before adding the liquids. A mixer helped remedy that problem. :) This cake is super moist and not too rich. I served half with no frosting and the other half with. The kids are big frosting fans, but DH and I both think the cake is good without it too. Thanks for posting!
